Best Books, Sequels, Releases, Most Anticipated, EVERYTHING about My 2017 Reads | Mid-Year Book Freakout TAG

I saw this over on AJ's blog and liked it so much that I decided to do it as well! I'm definitely having a mid-year book freakout at the moment because I've barely read 50 books this year so far!

All time low! Don't know what's happening. I gotta catch up.

#1. Best book read this year
This is very hard to say, I guess THE WOMEN IN THE WALLS by Amy Lukavics. I loved this so much that I can't stop talking about it!

#2. Best sequel this year
You guys probably know I don't do sequels, I've actually only read one so far this year and wasn't very impressed with it, WAKING GODS by Sylvain Neuvel. Ancient space robots though, yeahhhh

#3. New release I haven't read yet, but want to
DEAR MARTIN by Nic Stone. I am working on it! I'm waiting for the perfect time because this book will break my heart and I want to give it the fairest shot possible. Can't afford to not love this!

#4. Most anticipated release for second half of year
WICKED LIKE A WILDFIRE by Lana Popovic. *eye emoji* I'm waiting. I love witchy books.

#5. Biggest disappointment
ACROSS THE UNIVERSE by Beth Revis. What happened there? I love space and I was really looking forward to loving this, but I really, really did not.

#6. Biggest Surprise
THE HOLLOW GIRL by Hillary Monahan. I am so impressed with this book. It really shouldn't have suprised me that I ended up loving this to be honest because I have such a long history of adoring witchy books, haha.

#7. Favorite new author (Debut or new to me)
Thea de Salle! I'm neckdeep in her NOLA nights series and I need more people to talk about this with, I'm dying here! If you love intersectional romance, pleaseeeeeeee

#8. Newest fictional crush
Sol DuMont from THE KING OF BOURBON STREET by Thea de Salle. Duh. My flamboyant bisexual boyfriend is everything.

#9. Newest favorite character
*looks to the floor* Sol DuMont...

#10. Book that made me cry
Mh, I don't think there was one. Still waiting on a tear-jerker.

#11. Book that made me happy
HOW TO MAKE A WISH by Ashley Herring Blake. Love me some black biracial bisexual representation.

#12. Favorite book to film adaptation
I HAVEN'T SEEN A SINGLE ONE THIS YEAR! At least none of a book that I actually read. I'm terrible at this tag.

#13. Favorite post I've done this year
I've had the honor of hosting a Q&A with an author I admire, Hannah Moskowitz, after lovingggggg her Deaf bisexual romance WILD.

#14. Most beautiful book I've bought or received this year

  • Physically? The German edition of LAST SEEN by Lucy Clarke is the prettiest book I've ever seen.
  • Content-wise? HOW TO MAKE A WISH by Ashley Herring Blake

#15. Book I need to read by end of the year
More like bookS.
  • TASH HEARTS TOLSTOY by Kathryn Ormsbee
  • THE LADY OF ROYALE STREET by Thea de Salle
  • THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN by Paula Hawkins
  • THE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY by Douglas Adams
  • THE DIVINERS by Libba Bray
  • DARK VISIONS by L.J. Smith
... so many and that's only like the top six. I'm working on it.

Why You Need To Do More Book Tags | Book Blogging Tips (#62)

Book Tags honest to God saved my blog. They are such an underrated, easy way to add more content to your blog and boost your views and I'm honestly shocked that people don't do these more often.

So here are all the reasons why I think you should do more Tags!

What's a Book Tag?
A post that you make based on typically around 10-20 questions related to books. At the end of it you're supposed to tag people that you want to answer those questions, too. Hence the name.

#6: People LOVE them
When I did my first book tag, the amount of views genuinely shocked me. People love reading tags, I love reading tags. Whenever I see a tag in a post by one of my favorite blogs, I click and look immediately. Chances are, your readers will love them just as much as I and mine do.

#5: They add versatility to your blog
If you struggle with always having the same types of posts on your blog, tags are such a great way to bring some new content to your blog. Don't overdo it though, don't post a couple tags in a row, it can easily desensitize your readers to them and make the novelty wear out. Throw in some tags every now and then and make them a special treat!

#4: Minimal effort!
Because the tag questions are premade and preprovided by someone else, all you need to do is answer them. Tag posts are so quickly and easily written that you can cram them in last minute and still get a fabulous post that seems neither lazy nor quickly-written.

#3: They're fun!
Who doesn't love answering questions about themselves? If you haven't been enjoying blogging as much lately, they're guaranteed to bring some versatility into your routine and also make it fun for your readers. Two birds with one stone!

#2: When you're in a blogging slump-
-there's nothing better than spicing it all up by making a book tag post. Because it's so easy and quickly made, you're probably more likely to type up one of these than a lengthy discussion post. I've often had periods during my blogging career when I didn't feel like making any posts aside from reviews at all.
I still kept collecting nice tag post links to come back to them later and it did rekindle my love for blogging a couple of times. The ultimate blogging remedy.

#1: Easy way to add personality.
I'm one of those people that struggle with personal posts and not really enjoy making them in the first place. If you want to get to know your readers and them to get to know you, what easier way to do this than to publish a book tag? Most of the time the questions are a mixture between shining light on your reading habits and your personality and that's just such a clever way to make your blog a little more you.

What do you think about book tags? Do you do them?

Emotional Investment, Coolest Book Families, Characters Come to Life | Pixar Book TAG

Here's another lovely book tag, this time focusing on pixar movie inspired questions! Hope you enjoy!

Toy StoryA book where you wanted the characters to come to life.

VAMPIRE ACADEMY by Richelle Mead. How I love, love, love this world.

A Bugs LifeA character who goes through a transformation.

THE SOUND OF US by Julie Hammerle! If you love books about music, you'll adore this.

UpA book that quickly made you become emotionally invested.

THE SEAFARER'S KISS by Julia Ember. I love this world and the characters. Bisexual mermaids!

Finding Nemo“P. Sherman, 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney” A book that has an address or quote that’s burned into your memory forever.

I think I'll have to pass on this one, haha.

The Incredibles Coolest Book Family.

Um... probably The Thermopolis-Renaldos from THE PRINCESS DIARIES by Meg Cabot. I grew up with those weirdos, they're basically my extended family.

Monsters Inc.A strong character develops a soft side for someone.

Damon Black from the lovely LUX Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. My favorite alien jerk.

Cars 1, 2, 3A book that keeps getting sequels you feel are not needed.

GRACELING by Kristin Cashore. The sequels really aren't necessary. I mean, they're not even direct sequels but some weird kind of spin-off, why?!

Ratatouille A book featuring a non-human/humanoid.

ALIVE by Scott Sigler. Can't tell you what the protagonist is exactly because I need everyone to read this fantastic dystopian mystery thingy.

BraveName a book with a strong mother/daughter relationship.

ANGELFALL by Susan Ee. I know this might be a little weird because they aren't all love-y dove-y because of the mother's mental illness and the actual apocalypse happening, but this is truly one of my favorite mother/daughter relationships. I dig weird stuff.

Inside OutName a book that could be one of your core memories.

EVERY DAY by David Levithan. C'mon here. My favorite.
