Waiting on Wednesday: The Boy Most Likely To (My Life Next Door #2) - Huntley Fitzpatrick

Release Date: August 18th 2015
Publisher: Listening Library (Audio Version)
Genre: YA / Romance

I just love Huntley Fitzpatrick's books and I can't wait for this one!

Synopsis:
"Surprises abound and sparks ignite in the highly anticipated, utterly romantic companion to My Life Next Door

Tim Mason was The Boy Most Likely To:
- find the liquor cabinet blindfolded
- need a liver transplant
- drive his car into a house

Alice Garrett was The Girl Most Likely To:
- well, not date her little brother’s baggage-burdened best friend, for starters.

For Tim, it wouldn’t be smart to fall for Alice. For Alice, nothing could be scarier than falling for Tim. But Tim has never been known for making the smart choice, and Alice is starting to wonder if the “smart” choice is always the right one. When these two crash into each other, they crash hard.

Then the unexpected consequences of Tim’s wild days come back to shock him. He finds himself in a situation that isn’t all it appears to be, that he never could have predicted . . . but maybe should have.

And Alice is caught in the middle.

Told in Tim’s and Alice’s distinctive, disarming, entirely compelling voices, this return to the world of My Life Next Door is a story about failing first, trying again, and having to decide whether to risk it all once more."

Waiting on Wednesday: Ash & Bramble - Sarah Prineas

Ash & Bramble - Sarah Prineas

Release Date: September 15th 2015
Pages: 464
Publisher: Harper Teen
Genre: YA / Retellings

Again with the Cinderella retellings? Yes. I just can't get enough of them. It's not like I'm going to buy all of these. I'm lying

Synopsis:

"When the glass slipper just doesn’t fit…

The tale of Cinderella has been retold countless times. But what you know is not the true story.

Pin has no recollection of who she is or how she got to the Godmother’s fortress. She only knows that she is a Seamstress, working day in and out to make ball gowns fit for fairy tales. But she longs to forsake her backbreaking servitude and dares to escape with the brave young Shoemaker.

Pin isn’t free for long before she’s captured again and forced to live the new life the Godmother chooses for her—a fairy tale story, complete with a charming prince—instead of finding her own happily ever after.

Sarah Prineas’s bold fairy tale retelling is a dark and captivating world where swords are more fitting than slippers, young shoemakers are just as striking as princes, and a heroine is more than ready to rescue herself before the clock strikes midnight."

Waiting on Wednesday: The Veil - Chloe Neill

The Veil - Chloe Neill

Release Date: August 4th 2015
Pages: 336
Publisher: NAL Trade
Genre: YA / Fantasy / Urban

New Orleans, supernatural creatures, life beyond death - can you hear me swoon? I don't think I would've ever encountered this novel wasn't it for this meme!

Synopsis:
"Seven years ago, the Veil that separates humanity from what lies beyond was torn apart, and New Orleans was engulfed in a supernatural war. Now, those with paranormal powers have been confined in a walled community that humans call the District.

Those who live there call it Devil's Isle. Claire Connolly is a good girl with a dangerous secret: she’s a Sensitive, a human endowed with magic that seeped through the Veil. Claire knows that revealing her skills would mean being confined to Devil’s Isle. Unfortunately, hiding her power has left her untrained and unfocused. Liam Quinn knows from experience that magic makes monsters of the weak, and he has no time for a Sensitive with no control of her own strength.

But when he sees Claire using her powers to save a human under attack—in full view of the French Quarter—Liam decides to bring her to Devil’s Isle and the teacher she needs, even though getting her out of his way isn’t the same as keeping her out of his head. But when the Veil threatens to shatter completely, Claire and Liam must work together to stop it, or else New Orleans will burn…"

Waiting on Wednesday: Mechanica - Betsy Cornwell

I'm so looking forward to this one! I'm a sucker for fairytale retellings!
This book has a great legacy to live up to with "Cinder" being one of the most recent and super successful Cinderella retellings that I can think of at the top of my head.

I like the steampunk elements that this one seems to have and I'm sure it'll be equally as awesome as "Cinder".

Release Date: August 4th 2015
Pages: 304
Publisher: Clarion Books
Genre: YA / Retellings

Synopsis:
"Nicolette’s awful stepsisters call her “Mechanica” to demean her, but the nickname fits: she learned to be an inventor at her mother’s knee. Her mom is gone now, though, and the Steps have turned her into a servant in her own home.

But on her sixteenth birthday, Nicolette discovers a secret workshop in the cellar and begins to dare to imagine a new life for herself. Could the mysterious books and tools hidden there—and the mechanical menagerie, led by a tiny metal horse named Jules—be the key to escaping her dreary existence? With a technological exposition and royal ball on the horizon, the timing might just be perfect for Nicolette to earn her freedom at last."

Waiting on Wednesday: Blood and Salt by Kim Liggett

This reminds me of a more bloody and gory version of Beautiful Creatures.
The creepy ancestor, the messed up love between a human and something supernatural - I'm digging it!

Also, every novel that has the word alchemy in its synopsis definitely has my attention.

Pages: 352
Publisher: GP Putnam's Sons Books
Release Date: September 22nd 2015

Genre: YA/ Horror

Synopsis:

"“When you fall in love, you will carve out your heart and throw it into the deepest ocean. You will be all in—blood and salt.”

These are the last words Ash Larkin hears before her mother returns to the spiritual commune she escaped long ago. But when Ash follows her to Quivira, Kansas, something sinister and ancient waits among the rustling cornstalks of this village lost to time.

Ash is plagued by memories of her ancestor, Katia, which harken back to the town’s history of unrequited love and murder, alchemy and immortality. Charming traditions soon give way to a string of gruesome deaths, and Ash feels drawn to Dane, a forbidden boy with secrets of his own.

As the community prepares for a ceremony five hundred years in the making, Ash must fight not only to save her mother, but herself—and discover the truth about Quivira before it’s too late. Before she’s all in—blood and salt."

Waiting on Wednesday: Christina Lauren - The House

This sounds like everything Bad Girls Don't Die couldn't be. I'm excited for a scary read that will make me want to sleep with the lights on. It's been a while and YA Horror is always something I'm excited about.

Release Date: October 27th 2015

Synopsis:
"Gavin tells Delilah he’s her s— completely — but whatever lives inside that house with him disagrees. After seven years tucked away at an East coast boarding school, Delilah Blue returns to her small Kansas hometown to find that not much has changed.
Her parents are still uptight and disinterested, her bedroom is exactly the way she left it, and the outcast Gavin Timothy still looks like he’s crawled out of one of her dark, twisted drawings. Delilah is instantly smitten. Gavin has always lived in the strange house: an odd building isolated in a stand of trees where the town gives in to mild wilderness.
The house is an irresistible lure for Delilah, but the tall fence surrounding it exists for good reason, and Gavin urges Delilah to be careful. Whatever lives with him there isn’t human, and isn’t afraid of hurting her to keep her away."

Waiting on Wednesday: Starflight by Melissa Landers

I haven't read Alienated by her before, but I've read excellent reviews about it everywhere. I still don't know when I'm going to get it, but it's definitely on my TBR, just like Starflight. I love novels about aliens and sci-fi elements in YA. Also her beautiful cover art is definitely contributing to me wanting to buy this.

Release Date: February 2nd 2016

Synopsis:
"Life in the outer realm is a lawless, dirty, hard existence, and Solara Brooks is hungry for it. Just out of the orphanage, she needs a fresh start in a place where nobody cares about the engine grease beneath her fingernails or the felony tattoos across her knuckles. She's so desperate to reach the realm that she's willing to indenture herself to Doran Spaulding, the rich and popular quarterback who made her life miserable all through high school, in exchange for passage aboard the spaceliner Zenith.
When a twist of fate lands them instead on the Banshee, a vessel of dubious repute, Doran learns he's been framed on Earth for conspiracy. As he pursues a set of mysterious coordinates rumored to hold the key to clearing his name, he and Solara must get past their enmity to work together and evade those out for their arrest. Life on the Banshee may be tumultuous, but as Solara and Doran are forced to question everything they once believed about their world--and each other--the ship becomes home, and the eccentric crew family. But what Solara and Doran discover on the mysterious Planet X has the power to not only alter their lives, but the existence of everyone in the universe..."

Waiting on Wednesday: The Rest of Us Just Live Here - Patrick Ness

Patrick Ness is another author that belongs on by list of shame. I haven't read a single novel by him - hear me out - because I'm not a fan of crime and thriller novels unless I'm in a very special mood for it.
So therefore my crime TBR is pretty long and he's quite far behind. This novel rather sounds like something I would pick up in a store right away because it sound light, fun and easy.

Release Date: August 27th 2015

Synopsis:
"What if you’re not the one who’s so often the hero in YA fiction; who’s supposed to fight the zombies, or the soul-eating ghosts, or whatever this new thing is, with the blue lights and the death?
What if you were like Mikey? Who just wants to graduate and go to prom and maybe finally work up the courage to ask Henna out before someone goes and blows up the high school. Again. Because sometimes there are problems bigger than this week’s end of the world and sometimes you just have to find the extraordinary in your ordinary life. Even if your best friend might just be the God of mountain lions."

Waiting on Wednesday: Don't Get Me Wrong by Marianne Kavanagh

I absolutely LOVED her debut novel "For Once In My Life" and fell in love with her beautiful writing.
I can't wait to check out another novel by Kavanagh, and the synopsis is amazing!

 Release: August 25th 2015

Synopsis:
"Kim and Harry are total opposites who happen to have the same favorite people in the world: Kim’s older sister, Eva, and her young son, Otis. Kim has never seen what her free-spirited big sister sees in a stuck-up banker like Harry and has spent her childhood trying to keep him out (must he always drive the most ostentatious cars and insist on charming everyone he meets?), while Harry’s favorite occupation is provoking Kim.

Both Harry and Kim are too stuck in their prejudices to care about what’s really going on beneath the surface of each other’s lives. They’ll never understand each other—until the worst of all tragedy strikes. Faced with the possibilities of losing the person they both love most, long-buried secrets come to a head in ways that will change both Harry and Kim forever."

Waiting on Wednesday: It's a Wonderful Death by Sarah J. Schmitt

I'm obsessed with death things. Like, not actual death but the concept and personfication of death in lore and literature.
I tried "Last Chance Angel" by Alex Gutteridge hoping that I'd get exactly the plot of "It's a Wonderful Death".

So, this is my second chance for the topic and I hope that this time it's executed well.

Release Date: October 2015

Synopsis:
"Seventeen-year-old RJ always gets what she wants. So when her soul is accidentally collected by a distracted Grim Reaper, somebody in the afterlife better figure out a way to send her back from the dead or heads will roll. But in her quest for mortality, she becomes a pawn in a power struggle between an overzealous archangel and Death Himself. The tribunal presents her with two options: she can remain in the lobby, where souls wait to be processed, until her original lifeline expires, or she can replay three moments in her life in an effort to make choices that will result in a future deemed worthy of being saved. It sounds like a no-brainer. She’ll take a walk down memory lane. How hard can changing her future be?
But with each changing moment, RJ’s life begins to unravel, until this self-proclaimed queen bee is a social pariah. She begins to wonder if walking among the living is worth it if she has to spend the next sixty years as an outcast. Too quickly, RJ finds herself back in limbo, her time on Earth once again up for debate."

Waiting on Wednesday: Another Day (Every Day #2) by David Levithan

Not a single day has passed in which I have not been throwing a tantrum about the supposed sequel to Every Day by David Levithan.

For those who haven't read it - it's about A, a person that changes into the body of someone new for a day. Every day. But then they fall in love and for the first time they want to stay in the same body to be with that person. The sequel tells the story of A's lover Rhiannon and I need it like air.

Release: August 25th 2015

Synopsis:
"Every day is the same for Rhiannon. She has accepted her life, convinced herself that she deserves her distant, temperamental boyfriend, Justin, even established guidelines by which to live: Don’t be too needy. Avoid upsetting him. Never get your hopes up.

Until the morning everything changes. Justin seems to see her, to want to be with her for the first time, and they share a perfect day—a perfect day Justin doesn’t remember the next morning. Confused, depressed, and desperate for another day as great as that one, Rhiannon starts questioning everything. Then, one day, a stranger tells her that the Justin she spent that day with, the one who made her feel like a real person . . wasn’t Justin at all. "
